blog.fifty-two // Weâre doing something new.
As weâve shared before, our mission is to Make the Internet Feel Smaller. More accessible, less omnipresent. Weâre building a creative neighborhoodâwhere the unique voice you bring to the Block Party holds more weight than the size of your house.
This mission has always been bigger than just us. Thatâs why weâre excited to announce that weâre opening up our next edition of Creator Mag to guest submissions.
The fine print:
Share your written piece (â€500 words, save for special exceptions) via the form here.
Weâre open to all pitches, but our final selection will be curated.
Consider how your piece connects to our season-long theme, âWHERE DID YOU GO?â
Submissions are due by Saturday, May 10. Contributors whose pieces end up featured in the magazine will be compensated for their work. Plus: Youâll receive a complimentary print issue, as well as free tickets to our next Block Party (held on July 19 in Chicago).
Iâll talk about this process more in Sundayâs blog. In the meantime, scroll down for Shuaâs conversation with the Worldâs Longest Resume Builder: Gabe DeSanti.

Gabe DeSanti is a creator and street interviewer based in New York City. Heâs performed jobs for everyone from a handmade guitar craftsperson to a pig roast vendor as he works to build the âWorldâs Longest Resume.â
The following conversation has been edited and condensed for clarity.
Shua Buhangin: All right, Gabeâwhat were your biggest wins of 2024?
Gabe DeSanti: Biggest win? I think, as a whole, it was my first year of being a full-time creatorâjust for myself.
So January 1st of 2024, I went for it. And Iâm standing here, like, three hundred and sixty-five days later. I did it. And that's easily the biggest win of the year.

SB: What are some things you want to take into 2025?
GD: Budgeting. I definitely want to make budgeting a priority, and I think it was a big learning experience this past year.
As a creator, there's always going to be moments of, like, wow, there's money coming in. And then there's going to be moments of, you know, taking out a loanâmaybe no money is coming in. And you're net negative for some months.
I think it's important to be a little more levelheaded throughout the year. Just making sure that you're setting yourself up for the future, because this is an unpredictable path.
SB: For sure.
GD: I just wish that I was a little more prepared for those lulls, and how long it might take to come out of that. Because there were months last year where I was like, Oh noâŠI don't know if I'm going to be able to continue doing this.
Thankfully we juuuusssst got through it, you know, by the skin of our teeth. But budgeting is something I really need to prioritize in 2025.
Keep up with Gabeâs journey here.
Thanks for reading! Shoot us a reply, comment, or DM if anything resonated with you in particularâwe respond to them all.
* Fun fact: Our very own Shua Buhangin actually helped Gabe shoot this video at Wrigley Field!
